Noyce Scholars

In the picture below, you will see Xandy Delaney, Emile Frey, and Dr. Dawn Basinger. Xandy and Emile are two of our Noyce Scholars. These are students who have a bachelor's degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) major and who participated in a grant program to become certified to teach in a secondary STEM discipline. There are a total of 20 involved in this community at this point (some completers and some still in the program). Participants are spread out over the State of LA. We are working on getting this community to come together, physically and/or virtually so it can be strengthened and become a way for completers of the program to mentor new program applicants. Dr. Basinger is the co-PI on the program, and I work with the recruitment, application, and follow-up process. This is a good example of a community being built.
